Built in 1506, Providence Cottage is a retreat from the modern world, in every sense. With a huge log burning stove, simple furnishings and original features throughout it is the perfect place for two people to unplug, unwind and simply be.

Time in Providence, mulling over the events it has witnessed, somehow puts our own lives into context – here’s a place, for at least a short while, to make your own time stand still.

When this house was built:

  • Potatoes had not been imported from the Americas.
  • Shakespeare had not been born.
  • Gravity itself had not been discovered.
  • The average man was only 5 foot 4 inches (hence those low ceilings!) and lived until the ripe old age of 35.
